Tyler, Texas - Rhodes College Women's Soccer suffered a 4-0 loss at the University of Texas-Tyler Friday night in their season opener. The Lynx have the day off Saturday before returning to the pitch in Texas to take on Hardin-Simmons University at noon on Sunday, Sept. 4th. The hosts rattled off three goals in the first half before notching their fourth in the 63rd minute. Caitlyn Mortis scored the game-winner on a header from a corner kick. All nine of UT Tyler's shots were on target as Lynx goalkeeper Anna Maldonado made five saves.

Rhodes will rest a day before facing a tough non-conference opponent in No. 8-ranked Hardin-Simmons Sunday. The Cowgirls went 20-1-2 last season earning them the top-ten preseason ranking according to United Soccer Coaches.
