MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College men's tennis team bounced back to knock off defending Co-SAA Champion Birmingham-Southern by the score of 6-3 on Sunday morning at Dunavant Tennis Court.
The Lynx began the day by taking the doubles point as both the No. 2 doubles team of sophomore
Sean Hogan and freshman
Andrew Morton, as well as the No. 3 doubles team of freshmen
P.J. Shaw and
Phil Lauture picked up a pair of 8-4 victories. BSC was able to salvage a point going into singles.
From there, Lauture got things started with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles followed by a win for freshman
Ritwik Chatterjee at No. 2 singles due to retirement. However, Rhodes still only held a 4-3 lead with two courts remaining.
Hogan would come through clutch, clinching the match in a three set thriller 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Shaw extended the win to 6-3 as he closed the match with a 7-6 (6), 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
It was a huge win for the Lynx after a tough loss to Millsaps just a day ago.
Rhodes moves to 13-5 overall and 2-1 in the SAA. They return to Dunavant Tennis Courts on Saturday as they welcome in Oglethorpe for a SAA contest beginning at 12 PM.
