WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Rhodes College baseball team could not get anything going offensively, finishing with only five hits as they dropped their first game of their spring break trip to Concordia (IL) by the score of 3-0.
The Lynx got at least one runner on base in eight of the nine innings played, but could not come away with a key hit to get back into the game.
The Cougars scored two runs in the third and one in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead and did not look back as they used clutch pitching in big moments to keep the Lynx scoreless.
Freshman
Alex Garrett got the start for Rhodes, pitching five complete and allowing only two earned runs (three total) on seven hits to go with four strikeouts. Sophomore
Matt Dale was excellent in relief, pitching three innings and only allowing two hits to go with five strikeouts.
For the Lynx, they were led by sophomore
Jacob Telli, who finished 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Senior
Ryan Olive was 1-for-2 with a walk and hit by pitch while sophomore
