MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College men's lacrosse team took on a tough task on Thursday evening, falling short to the Skidmore Thoroughbreds at Crain Field by the score of 10-5, thanks in part to a big second half by Skidmore.
The Lynx were out shot 39-28 on the day, but that stats were close in shots on goal with the Thoroughbreds holding a 22-16 advantage. Rhodes struggled in clear attempts, going only 10 of 18, while both teams had 24 turnovers. Rhodes picked up 23 ground balls and the night and won six face offs.
Skidmore got the scoring started, taking advantage of a bad Lynx turnover to take a 1-0 lead 30 seconds into the match. One minute later, freshman
Addison Mueller evened the game at one.
Later in the quarter, Skidmore took a 2-1 lead to close the period with the one goal lead.
Junior
Ryan Fennelly evened the game at two less than a minute into the second period, but Skidmore made it a 3-2 game, taking that lead into the break as both team were sloppy in the first half, combining for 27 turnovers.
Skidmore took over in the third quarter, outscoring Rhodes 4-1 in the second half including three straight to open the second half. Freshman
J.J. Hoots had the lone goal of the quarter on a won face off to make it 6-3 at the time.
Rhodes continued to battle going into the final quarter, getting it as close at three thanks to goals from freshman
Ethan Garland and sophomore
Tyler Milwit, but it was not enough as Skidmore hung on for the road win.
Milwit finished with three points with a goal and two assists while five different Lynx had a point on the day. Four Lynx scored a goal while sophomore
John Tooher added an assist on the day.

John Snyder all had two ground balls and a caused turnover while sophomore
Cameron Link finished with 12 saves and three ground balls. Hoots added three ground balls and five face off victories.
Rhodes moves to 7-2 on the season and will take some time off before returning to conference action next Saturday, as the Lynx look to stay unbeaten in SAA play in a pivotal home matchup with Birmingham-Southern at 1 PM.
