Jackson, Miss. - On the eve of Thanksgiving, Rhodes College and Belhaven University set a new NCAA Division III record for total free throws attempted in a game. The two teams combined for 112 free throw attempts, breaking the 1992 record of 105 attempts set by Earlham and Oberlin. Rhodes went 37-of-46 at the line, shooting .804. Belhaven went 45-of-66 at the line, averaging .682 on the evening.
The Lynx won the game 140-113, just two points shy of the program record 142 points set last season.
Each team consistently scored the same amount of points in each half, Rhodes netting 69 points in the first half and 71 points in the second half. The Lynx posted 26 points off turnovers and 103 points from players off the bench.Â
Rhodes'
Bryce Berry led the game with 20 points. He added four rebounds and went 6-of-6 at the free throw line as did
Price Dalton. Dalton scored 14 points in the win and added four assists and three rebounds while he went 2-of-3 from long range. Junior
Will McIntyre scored 15 points, going 3-of-4 from three-point range. Also scoring in double digits were
Owen Galvin and
Nick De Feria. Galvin recorded 13 points with four rebounds while De Feria tallied 11 points in nine minutes on the court.Â
