Memphis - It was a slow start to today's game, but after a scoreless half, the Rhodes men's soccer team scored four goals to finish the regular season with a 4-0 victory over Hendrix College Saturday afternoon. The win marks a final home victory for the six seniors honored before the game:
Tyler Beasom,
Robby DelBello,
Garrett Durbin,
Matt McKeand,
William Mitchell and
Mark Robinson. The Lynx are now 7-5-2 on the year.
Robinson netted the game winner just over three minutes into the second half. Freshman
Ian Schiller's shot was saved by Hendrix keeper Josh Newman but
Nick Isolani controlled the rebound. His shot hit the left post and after Newman and Robinson both went for the ball on the goal line, Robinson's tap allowed the ball to cross the plane for his fifth goal of the season.
Davis Neitzschman came off the bench in the 68th minute and immediately scored on an assist from Mitchell as he went on to record a hat trick. Neitzschman netted his second goal of the game in the 74th minute and ending the scoring for the game in the ensuing minute as he connected with Mitchell once again.Â
On the day, Rhodes outshot Hendrix 34-5 as the Warrior keeper recorded six saves.Â
Rhodes will wait for conference play to conclude to find out where they will be traveling for the first round of the SAA Tournament, to be held on Oct. 28th.Â
