CONWAY, Ark. - The Rhodes College baseball team punched its ticket to the SAA Championship Series after defeating the Hendrix College Warriors, 9-4, on Sunday afternoon in Conway, Ark. The Lynx will have an opportunity to defend their SAA Championship next weekend.
After being held scoreless through three innings, the Lynx exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning to take complete control of the game. Sophomore
Nathan Foshee doubled to left to take a 2-0 lead while junior
Bennett Notestine drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to make it a 3-0 game.
With the bases loaded, sophomore
Levi Greenberg cleared the bases with a three RBI triple to left field to put Rhodes in complete control at 6-0. Junior
Bill Munson followed that up with a single through the left side to go again 7-0.
From there, senior
Adam Putnam and the Lynx bullpen kept Hendrix in check as they cruised to the 9-4 victory. Foshee added a two RBI double in the eighth to make it a 9-1 game.
Putnam earned his second straight win, going five complete and allowing one run on five hits to go with seven strikeouts. Sophomore
Will Vance added two innings of scoreless ball, allowing only one hit in the process. Junior

Nick Bosma finished the game off in the final two innings.
Munson, Foshee, and junior
Ryan Olive finished 3-for-5 on the day with Foshee leading the way in RBI total with three as well as two runs scored. Foshee also had three doubles while Munson had three stolen bases. Rhodes finished the weekend outscoring their opponents, 23-6, in three games.
Rhodes will take on Birmingham-Southern in the SAA Championship Series in Birmingham next weekend beginning on Friday. More information will be released later in the week.
