COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - After upsetting 3rd-seed Millsaps earlier in the day, the No. 6 Rhodes College softball team could not solve SAA Player and Pitcher of the Year, Kassie Howard, as they fell to the 2nd-seed Berry College Vikings, 6-1, in the nightcap at W.C. Johnson Park.
The Vikings chased started
Bri Maniscalco, scoring two runs in the first, second, and third innings, respectively, to jump out to a 6-0 lead. Freshman
Karrah Flores doubled home a run in the fourth to make it a 6-1 game, but Howard only allowed three hits on the day to earn her 24th win of the season.
Sophomore
Caroline Reilly was, again, terrific in relief, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing no runs on three hits. She was excellent in four inning of work earlier in the day in the win over Millsaps.
Junior
Christine Hume and sophomore
Kirsten Samuels each had a hit while Hume scored a run to go along with Flores' double and RBI.
The Lynx will look to avoid elimination on Saturday as they try to navigate their way back into Championship Sunday. They battle the 4th-seed Centre College Colonels tomorrow at 12 PM in an elimination game.
