Allison Long drove in three runs and pitched a complete game shutout while freshman
Karrah Flores finished 3-for-3 with three doubles as the Rhodes College softball team completed the sweep on Sunday afternoon, defeating Sewanee 9-0 (5).
Long (2-1) pitched all five innings, allowing only three hits while striking out four and allowing no walks. Rhodes racked up 11 hits on the afternoon and had a solid day in the field, committing no errors.
Rhodes got things rolling in the first as Flores and freshman Kylle Cahill-Patray had back-to-back RBI doubles for the 2-0 lead. In the second, freshman
Haley Rath made it 3-0 on a RBI single while Long broke the game wide open with a bases clearing, three RBI triple to move Rhodes ahead 6-0. Freshman Katelynn Bressler added a RBI groundout as Rhodes put up a five spot in the inning.
In the third, Rath singled to right to drive one in while sophomore Maggie MItchell drove in a run in the fifth on a sac fly to make it a 9-0 game. It was all the Lynx needed as they finished off Sewanee in the fifth for the sweep.
Flores added a RBI and two runs scored to her 3-for-3 day while Long finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Rath drove in a pair of runs while senior
Emily Cerrito was 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored. The Lynx also stole four bases on the day.
The Lynx head to Kissimmee, Fla. for the Spring Break trip where they will play eight games in five days. They begin on Tuesday as they take on Mitchell at 9 AM ET and Baldwin Wallace at 11:15 AM ET.
