MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College softball team could not solve Cassidy DeNoon on Saturday afternoon as they dropped the rubber match to the Millsaps Majors, 3-0, in Southern Athletic Association play at the Rhodes Softball Complex.
The Lynx looked to strike early, loading the bases with one out in the inning. However, a fly out and a line out got Millsaps out of the inning and kept the game scorelss early on.
The Majors scored all the runs they needed in the third inning, plating all three of their runs on back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles. Rhodes was able to limit the damage as freshman

Rachel Pewitt to throw the runner out at home and keep the game at 3-0.
DeNoon seemed to get stronger while Rhodes did not help their caue with eight runners left in scoring position. The Lynx left 24 runners on base for the entire weekend series.
Freshman
Bri Maniscalco took the loss for the Lynx, pitching six complete while allowing three runs on seven hits to go with a strikeout. Sophomore
Allison Long entered in the seventh with a bases loaded jam and no outs. She proceeded to get a groundout and two fly outs to get out of the inning with no runs scored.
Offensively, sophomore
Kendall Henry went 2-for-3 on the day while junior
Christine Hume went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base. Sophomore
Kirsten Samuels had the only other hits of the day, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base.
Rhodes is now 18-10 on the season and 4-8 in SAA play. They will return to action next Saturday as they take on the Berry College Vikings in SAA play. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 12 PM.
