JACKSON, Miss. - Freshman
Cameron Tinker and sophomore
Jack Mercer combined to hold a good hitting Millsaps team to one run on seven hits as the Rhodes College baseball team won the rubber match and earned a huge conference series win on the road.
The Lynx jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning as sophomore Levin Greenberg drove home the first run of the game on a RBI single while senior
Marcus Moreland brought in another run on a suicide squeeze.
Rhodes made it a 3-0 game as Greenberg put down a bunt and reached on a bad throw which brought home sophomore
Zac Lange to extend the lead.
From there it was all Tinker and Mercer. Tinker moved to 2-1 on the year as he pitched five complete, allowing one run off four hits and striking out one while Mercer picked up his third save of the season, pitching four complete and allowing no runs on three hits to go with two strikeouts.
Offensively, Greenberg, junior
Bennett Notestine, and junior
Ryan Olive all went 2-for-4 on the day with Greenberg adding a RBI and three stolen bases while junior
Bill Munson finished 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base.
Rhodes is 15-10 on the season 6-3 in the SAA. The Lynx will go back on the road to Georgia as they prepare for a three-game series with the Berry College Vikings. The series will begin on Friday, due to Easter on Sunday, with a doubleheader at 2 and 5 PM.
