MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College women's basketball team made it three in a row as they knocked off bitter rival, the Sewanee Tigers, in their home finale on Sunday afternoon at Mallory Gymnasium.
Rhodes shot 26-for-60 (43.3%) from the field and 9-for-26 (34.6%) from the 3-point line. They held the Tigers to 16-for-46 (34.8%) from the field and 4-for-17 (23.5%) from downtown. The Lynx forced 13 Sewanee turnovers while turning it over 12 times on the other end. Rhodes absolutely dominated the boards, outrebounding the Tigers, 40-24. Rhodes also got a big day from the bench, outscoring the Tigers, 27-7.

Jessie Ustick provided a spark off the bench to keep the Lynx in front. Orth followed up a miss shot with a tip in at the buzzer as Rhodes led 17-13 after one.

Blaire Smith went to work in the second quarter, leading the way with five and four in the quarter. Rhodes locked it down on the defensive end as they increased their lead to 10 at halftime.
In the third quarter, back-to-back buckets from junior
Bailey Kramer and Eckert pushed the lead to as many as 14. Sewanee used the majority of the quarter to scratch and claw back into the game, cutting the deficit to four with 3:50 to go in the third quarter.
However, Rhodes responded with three straight 3-pointers, two from sophomore Erin Deery and one from Eckert to push their lead to 13 by the end of the third. The Lynx controlled the final quarter from there as they closed their home season with a victory.
Eckert finished with 16 points including four 3-pointers while Ustick scored 13 points off the bench. Senior
Symone Daniels had nine points and 11 boards while Kramer had six points and 10 boards. Freshman
Danielle Summers had five assists while Deery and Smith dropped three dimes each. Eckert led the way with two steals while Kramer added two blocks and a steal.
For Sewanee, Jamie Chauvin and Bella Taylor led the way offensively with 14 points each.
Rhodes moves to 13-10 overall and 7-5 in Southern Athletic Association play. Currently sitting in fourth in the SAA, Rhodes will hit the road for the final weekend of play as the current No. 1 team in the SAA, Birmingham-Southern, on Friday at 6 PM.
