CONWAY, Ark. - The Rhodes College women's basketball team had another rough day on Sunday afternoon at the Cliff Garrison Classic on the campus of Hendrix College as they fell to Trinity (Texas) by the score of 74-53.

It was another tough shooting day for Rhodes as they went 19 of 72 from the field (27%) and 6 of 25 from the 3-point line (24%). The Lynx also had 21 turnovers while the Tigers of Trinity shot 49% from the field and dominated the paint with 40 points inside of it.

Early in the contest, Trinity held a slight 7-4 lead over the Lynx, but a 13-2 run to end the quarter gave the Tigers a 20-6 lead after one. Trinity would bump that lead out to 22 after two quarters of play to take a 42-20 lead at the break.

In the third quarter, the Tigers continued to roll, leading by as many as 32 points. Rhodes would not go down quietly in the fourth quarter, out scoring Trinity 20-9 in the final frame, but it would not be enough as the Lynx dropped their third straight.

Junior Jessie Ustick led the way with 14 points and 13 rebounds while freshman Kaelee Overfield scored 13 points off the bench including four 3-pointers. A pair of freshman provided nice contributions off the bench as Ashley Foret scored seven points to go with six rebounds and two steals while LaKyia Parker scored seven with five assists.

For Trinity, Monica Holguin scored 16 points while Micah Weaver added 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

Rhodes falls to 1-5 on the season and will take the weekend off to regroup as they prepare to host the Bancorp Classic in mid-December. They will take on Austin College on December 15th at 5 PM.
