MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Rhodes College volleyball team could not get much going on Sunday afternoon as they fell to the Berry Vikings in Southern Athletic Association play in straight sets.
For the Lynx, they fall to 9-11 overall and 5-7 in SAA play.
It was a season low for hitting as Rhodes only had 18 kills to 27 errors for a -.088 team hitting percentage. Meanwhile, Berry had 31 kills to 19 errors for a .117 hitting percentage. Rhodes had 11 blocks on the day as well as 48 digs.
In all three sets, Rhodes could never get much of anything going as the lost 25-17, 25-22, 25-14. In the second set, Rhodes took a 21-20 lead late in the set, but Berry won five of the final six points to close that set and use that momentum to a dominant third set.
Sophomore
Katherine Bolyard led the way with five kills while sophomore
Hannah McCarty had 12 assists. Sophomores
Caroline Perlis,
Elasha Williams, and
Ellen Platt each had two service aces.
Defensively, freshman
Sophia Quesada had 16 digs while Perlis picked up five blocks and Platt added four.
Rhodes will return home for a final three game home stand to close out the regular season. They begin things on Saturday afternoon as they welcome in the Sewanee Tigers to Mallory Gymnasium for a 1 PM tip off.
