MEMPHIS - Prep standout, Kayla Rose of Redwood High School in Larkspur, California has signed her admission paperwork and has officially become the newest recruit to commit to attend Rhodes and join the college's softball program for 2016-17 season.
Off the diamond, Rose is a member of the California Scholarship Federation, Redwoods Honor Society, Model United Nations, a recipient of the AP Scholar Award and tutors her peers in Spanish. In addition, Rose is active in her community acting as counselor for her parish's Bible School and being a team leader for Great Strides and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
On the diamond, a perennial All-League selection and team captain, Kayla earned Rookie of the Year honors (2013), the softball Hero Award (2014), and Most Inspirational Player (2015).
When asked about Kayla, Coach Wagner commented, "Kayla is really exciting prospect. Simply utilizing her current skill sets she has begun to separate herself from her peers at the prep level. I believe, as we continue to develop her abilities at this (college) level, she has potential to be a really special player for us."
Kayla is the daughter of Michael and Bonnie Rose of Tiburon, California and plans to major in Religious Studies while minoring in Art History.
