MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College women's basketball team held the Berry College Vikings to 13-for-52 (25.0%) from the field and 4-for-18 (22.2%) from downtown as the Lynx defeated the Vikings, 60-41, on Sunday afternoon at Mallory Gymnasium.
Rhodes shot 22-for-63 (34.9%) from the field and 5-for-18 (27.8%) from downtown. Rhodes was absolutely dominant on the glass, outrebounding the Vikings, 50-34, while forcing 16 turnovers in the process. The Lynx outscored the Vikings 22-14 in bench points.
Rhodes started the game with a 6-0 lead thanks to points from senior
Catherine Eckert, junior
Bailey Kramer, and sophomore
Erin Deery. Berry would close the gap at 6-5, but Rhodes would outscore the Vikings, 6-1, to end the quarter with a 12-6 lead.
The second quarter was all Lynx, outscoring the Vikings, 19-8, to go ahead 31-14 at the break. Eckert was terrific all throughout the first half, going 4-for-8 from the field.

Blaire Smith, and Eckert helped push the lead over 20 in the the third quarter while the likes of senior

Sara Giesen provided great energy off the bench. Rhodes held a 40-20 lead at the end of three as their defense was suffocating.
Rhodes emptied its bench throughout the fourth quarter and cruised to their third Southern Athletic Association win of the season.
Eckert led the Lynx with 16 points including a pair of three's and two steals while Daniels added 11 points, eight rebounds, one block, and one steal. Deery, Giesen, and Orth all pitched in five points. Smith, Kramer, and Daniels all had three assists each while Summers led the way defensively with three steals. Kramer was also efficient on the defensive end with two blocks.
For Berry, no player got into double figures as Megan Casey and Zarriah Pierce led the way with nine points each.
Rhodes moves to 9-8 overall and 3-3 in SAA play. They continue their three-game home stand on Friday as they welcome in Birmingham-Southern on Friday evening at 6 p.m.
