Field Hockey Bounces Back with Huge Win Over Wooster

MEMPHIS - After a tough loss to nationally ranked Catholic, the Rhodes College field hockey team blasted the College of Wooster to the tune of 9-0 at Mason Field on Sunday morning.

The Lynx wasted no time as junior Christina DiFelice scored in the first minute off an assist from senior Mary Rose Hazel. Ten minutes later, the Lynx added a second goal as junior Mackenzie Busby rocketed a beautiful shot off a corner from senior Jordan Kugler for a 2-0 lead.

Rhodes would add three more goals throughout the first half thanks to goals from senior Alex Friedman, sophomore Maddie Smith, and sophomore Georgie Wilkins. The Lynx were completely dominant throughout the first half, outshooting the Scots, 21-0 while holding an 8-0 advantage in corners.

In the second half, the Lynx used a 15-minute stretch midway through the second half to pull away and secure the 9-0 win. Wilkins would add two more goals for a hat trick while sophomore Lauren Travis and senior Evy Royther each added a goal.

As a team, the Lynx out shot Wooster 37-6 with 24 of their shots on target. They also held a 22-1 advantage in corners. Wilkins had a big game with three goals while six other Lynx found the scoring column. Royther and Travis each had both a goal and an assist. Senior Julie Hertzman led the way in shots with six with three on target.

Sophomore Laura Eckelkamp had four saves in the contest and picked up her second shutout of the year.
