MEMPHIS - The Rhodes College women's soccer team were back in action on Sunday afternoon as they took on the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops at the Rhodes Soccer Complex. The Lynx scored two goals in the first half and added a late goal in the second half to earn a 3-0 win over the Bishops.
Freshman
Sydnie Schindler found sophomore
Sarah Rostamo early in the first half as Rostamo scored the second goal of her career and her first of 2015 in the 11th minute to give the Lynx an early 1-0 lead.
It didn't take long for the Lynx to make it a 2-0 lead as Schindler did it herself this time, scoring her first goal of her young career as Rhodes was in complete control.
The Lynx kept the energy up throughout the first half, outshooting Ohio Wesleyan, 17-0, and earning six corner kicks throughout the half. It would be more of the same in the second half, though the Bishops tried to find a goal of their own to get back into the contest. Rhodes was still able to outshoot their opponent, 14-4.
In the 88th minute, sophomore
Ellie Valega connected with freshman
Aly Hoyt, who scored her first career goal, and put the game out of reach at 3-0.
