CONWAY, Ark. – A late rally from the No. 11 Rhodes baseball team lifted the Lynx past Hendrix College in Southern Athletic Association play, 4-2.
The Lynx improve to 23-6 on the year and 10-2 in conference play while the Warriors fall to 12-14 on the season and 4-9 in league action.
Rhodes posted the first run in the opening inning when
Ryan Olive knocked a single through the left side to send
Bill Munson home. The Warriors added a run in the second frame to tie the contest at 1-1. Hendrix tacked on a single run in the fourth inning to take a slim 2-1 lead.
The Rhodes offense went to work, adding a run in the sixth, to tie the contest at 2-2 when
Marcus Moreland batted in
Will Gietema. The Lynx took the lead in the ninth inning when another Olive single down the left line scored
Josh Keen for the go ahead run.
David Balaguer added a single to right-center, trading places with Olive and making the final count 4-2 in favor of the Lynx.
The Lynx worked for nine hits in the contest, paced by Olive, who went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Josh Olejnik came in for the final four and two-thirds innings of work, picking up the win while dishing out four K's and allowing only one hit.
Rhodes will be back in the diamond on April 4 to complete the series against Hendrix in Conway, Ark.
