JACKSON, Miss. – The Rhodes softball team split two games with Millsaps College on Sunday, ultimately splitting the series, 2-2.
The Lynx move to 7-17-1 on the year and 6-7-1 in league action while the Majors are 14-6 in 2015 and 7-6 in conference play.

Luke Wagner's squad got things started right off the bat in the first inning when
Makenzie Martin scored
Caroline Sutton to take the one run lead. The Majors answered the call in the same frame, adding a run in the bottom of the first.
Rhodes kept the ball rolling when
Allison Long notched a two-run single to left field, scoring
Erin Parker and Sutton for the 3-1 lead. A pair of runs from Millsaps in the sixth inning knotted the contest at 3-3, but a two-run homer from Martin in the seventh inning put the finishing touches on the Lynx 5-3 win.
Rhodes tallied nine hits in the contest, with Sutton and
Forrest Skelton leading the way with a pair of hits each.
Skelton got the start and went the distance in the circle for the Lynx, striking out three and scattering two hits in the outing.
In the second match up the Lynx fought in 10 innings, but ultimately fell, 8-7.
Martin continued her hitting streak, with a single up the middle, scoring a run in the first, and a second single in the third scoring the Lynx second run. The Majors tallied three runs in the third to take the 3-2 lead.
Kirsten Samuels got the Lynx back on track with a single to center field that scored Skelton to tie the game at 3-3 in the fourth. In the bottom of the inning, the Majors added a run to take a 4-3 edge.
Rhodes worked to add two more runs, with an
Allison Long double to left center adding one in the fifth and a
Rachel Pewitt double in the seventh scoring the go ahead run in the seventh. The Majors worked to even the score in the bottom of the frame, forcing extra innings.
The Lynx and Majors each notched a run in the ninth inning, with Rhodes adding a seventh run in the 10th. In the bottom of the inning the Majors scored two to take the 8-7 decision.
Rhodes rallied fro 18 hits in the contest, with Martin's three hits leading the charge.
Caroline Reilly got the start, and threw three and one thirds innings with two strikeouts. Long finished the contest with six and one third innings, and two strikeouts.
Rhodes will be back in action when they host Centre College on April 3.
