SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Rhodes women's basketball team picked up a big Southern Athletic Association win on Sunday over Sewanee, 49-46.
The Lynx improve to 14-7 on the year and 5-5 in conference play, while the Tigers fall to 11-9 on the season and 3-7 in the SAA.

Natalie Goodrum got the Lynx off to a hot start, with back to back buckets, including a Goodrum three to take an early 5-0 lead. The Tigers fought back to the tune of a 12-3 run to take a 14-9 lead by the 6:15 mark.
By 4:59, the Tigers lead swelled to 10, and Rhodes had to fight to play catch up. The Lynx worked to gain momentum, and a 13-0 run to close the half gave Rhodes the three point lead at 23-20. The streak was capped off with a
Dy'Nelle Todman trey in the closing seconds of the half.
At the break, Goodrum led the Lynx with eight points, shooting 2-3 from beyond the arc. Todman added six points, with
Sarah Johnson adding four. On Sewanee's side, Savannah Rose led the Tigers with eight points, with Kelley Myers chipping in six.
The Lynx had to fight in the second half to keep their lead, and after a lead change and a tie, Rhodes regained the advantage by the 14:47 mark with a Johnson jumper, making the count 27-26. Head coach
Matt Dean's squad worked to distance themselves, and by the 4:50 mark, a
Bailey Kramer layup gave Rhodes its largest lead of the day at 43-33.
Rhodes worked to fight off any Sewanee charges down the stretch, and solid free throw shooting brought home the 49-46 win.
Todman led the Lynx with 12 points, with a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe. The balanced Lynx had four players with eight points, with Johnson, Daniels, Goodrum and Kramer each adding eight points apiece. Johnson dished seven assists and grabbed four steals in the outing. Rhodes shot 28.3 percent from the field and knocked down four trey's.
For the Tigers, Jamie Chauvin led the way with 13 points, and six rebounds. Casey Hassett and Rose each chipped in 10 points. Sewanee shot 41.5 percent in the contest
Rhodes will return home for their next contest, when the Lynx host Oglethorpe University on Feb. 13.
