Rhodes battle with Huntingdon ends in 1-1 tie

Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The men's Rhodes soccer team couldn't overpower Huntingdon College and tied with the Hawks on Sunday in double overtime, 1-1.
 
The tie puts the Lynx at 1-1-1 and Huntington moves to 0-1-2 on the season.
 
Rhodes opened the scoring, when first-year Matt McKeand headed in a Jason Crutcher set up to take the 1-0 lead at the 43 minute mark. The Lynx took the 1-0 lead into the half.
 
In the second half of action, the Hawks made quick work, netting a goal just two minutes into the half when Miguel Medina buried a Killian Delmore pass.
 
The defensive battle ensued, as neither offense was able to break through to end the tie. The stalemate held for two overtime periods, and the 1-1 tie stood.
 
Rhodes outshot their counterparts by a count of 28-11 and edged the Hawks in corner kicks by a tally of 5-4.
 
Riley Sheen was in goal for the Lynx for all 110 minutes, where he grabbed four saves in the outing.
 
The Lynx will hit the road for their next contest, as they head to Hendrix College to play Emory University and Fontbonne University on Sept. 13-14.
