Rhodes falls in tight contest to CBU, 1-0

Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Rhodes men's soccer team narrowly missed defeating cross-town NCAA Division II rivals Christian Brothers University, 1-0.
 
The Lynx fall to 2-3-1 on the year, while the Bucs keep an unblemished record at 3-0.
 
Rhodes fought in a tough physical battle, but the Lynx defense couldn't hold off the Division II leader in goals per contest, Jose Ferraz,, who netted his eighth goal of the season in the 3rd minute of play.
 
At the half, the Buc outshot the Lynx by a tally of 12-1, with CBU taking eight corner kicks in the first half.
 
The Lynx continued to battle in the second half, with several solid looks at the goal, but couldn't target a shot on goal. The defense held strong, with the final score standing at 1-0.
 
Rhodes was outshot by its counterpart, 21-1 in the contest, with a 12-2 edge in favor of the Bucs in the corner kick category.
 
Riley Sheen had a sound day in goal for the Lynx, seeing all 90 minutes of play and snagging an impressive seven saves.
 
Rhodes will return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 20 against Belhaven University at 2 p.m.
