Box Score MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Rhodes women's soccer team picked up a big win on the road against Maryville College on Saturday, downing the Scots, 2-1.
The Lynx improve to 3-1-1 on the year with the Scots falling to 2-4 to start their campaign.
Rhodes got on the board first when
Emma Selner finished a
Sarah Rostamo pass to take the 1-0 lead in the 15th minute of play. That score would stand through the half, with the Lynx taking a 1-0 lead into the break.
In the second half the Scots mustered a late response to the Lynx opening goal, tying the contest in the 57th minute when Casey Gentile scored unassisted to make the count 1-1.
Three minutes later
Ellie Valega netted the goal winner, at the 60 minute mark, giving the Lynx the go ahead goal and the 2-1 win.
Rhdoes'
Chandler Kuhlman saw all 90 minutes in goal for the Lynx. While serving as the Rhodes net minder, Kuhlman grabbed seven saves.
The Lynx outshot their counterpart by a total of 21-11. Rhodes was also awarded more corner kicks by a count of 6-0.
The lynx will be back on the field on Sept. 17 when they return home to face Carthage College at 3 p.m.
