FULTON, Mo. – In a tight contest, the Rhodes men's soccer team fell on Sunday by a score of 2-1 against Westminster College.
The loss moves the Lynx to a 1-1 overall record, while the Blue Jays improve to 1-1 on the year.
The first half proved to be a tough battle, as neither team was able to find the back of the net, where a score of 0-0 stood at the half.
Westminster was able to end the draw as Tripp Sheehan netted a goal in the 62nd minute. Drew Cook added another Blue Jay goal to make the count 2-0 with 24.47 to play.
Rhodes broke their scoring silence when
Harrison Leeson headed in a
Jason Crutcher set up to score in the 72nd minute. The Lynx struggled to produce another goal, and the 2-1 score would hold as Rhodes fell to Westminster.
Riley Sheen was in goal for the Lynx for all 90 minutes of play, where he grabbed six saves.
The Lynx will be back in action on Sept. 6 as they host the Greg Volgas Memorial. Rhodes will face off against Eureka College at 2 p.m.
