Rhodes completes Sewanee sweep, 18-0 and 12-1

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes softball completed the four game series sweep of Sewanee on Sunday, downing Southern Athletic Association foes 19-0 and 12-1.
 
Rhodes boasts an overall record of 21-12 and a conference record of 7-9 while the Tigers are 3-23 and 0-17 in league play after the double header.
 
In the first game the Lynx scored 10 first inning runs highlighted by a Courtney Williams Grand Slam. Rhodes added four more runs in the second and four more in the third before scoring their final run in the fourth inning to make the final score 19-0.
 
Forrest Skelton got the start and the win of the Lynx as she went the distance, throwing all five innings. She threw 10 strikeouts in the no-hitter, her third no-hitter of the season.
 
In the second game, the Lynx again faired well at the plate, tallying 16 hits. Rhodes tacked on a run in the first inning, followed by five more in the second. The Lynx capped off their runs with six in the third, before Sewanee scored their lone run in the fourth inning to make the final score 12-1.
 
Emily Cerrito was in the circle for the Lynx, throwing five innings, striking out one batter and allowed no walks.
 
Rhodes will wrap up the regular season on April 18-19 as the Lynx head to Conway, Ark. to face off against Hendrix College.
