MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Rhodes softball holds Transylvania University scoreless and closes the weekend tallying two more wins, 5-0 and 8-0.

The Lynx finished the weekend with a 9-3 overall record, while the Pioneers move to 0-4 to start their season.

The first score of the game came in the bottom of the second when a hit from
Danielle Smith scored
Allycia Kleine from second base, bringing the score to 1-0. Key defensive plays from Martin and Parker in the top of the third, held the Pioneers scoreless.

Going to work on offense in the bottom of the fifth, All-American designated hitter
Jessica Brown batted in
Amber Hunt,
Erin Parker and
Christine Hume with a double that hugged the right field line. The Lynx would tally one more run in the inning and the game when
Courtney Williams traded places with Brown on second, with a double that hit the left field fence. The Lynx defense held the Pioneers scoreless and finished the game 5-0.

In the second game of the day, the Lynx took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Kleine scored Williams with a double down the right field line and a
Danielle Smith hit that scored Mackenzie Martin with a ball up the middle.

Second baseman, Martin had a huge day with two diving catches, the first coming in the top of the third inning and the second in the top of the fifth, which continued the domination by the Lynx.
Rachel Pewitt would score Parker in the bottom of the third bringing the score to 3-0.

The Lynx sealed the deal in the bottom of the fourth with four additional runs. The first came when senior captain Hunt, singled scoring Martin and the second, a double from Parker which comfortably scored Smith. The final two runs came when a well-placed single from Hume brought the equally speedy Hunt and Parker home, bringing the score to 7-0. The game ended in the bottom of the sixth when Parker beat out a bunt to score the walk-off run, making the final score 8-0.
Forrest Skelton pitched all 13 innings of the day, wracking up 12 strike outs while only giving up nine hits.

The Lynx will suit up to play Fontbonne University and Millikin University at home next weekend, Mar. 1.
