MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Rhodes softball won both games on Saturday defeating the Griffins of Fontbonne University 10-2 and the Big Blue of Millikin University 4-2.

The Lynx finish the day with an 11-3 overall record, while the Griffins move to 2-1 and the Big Blue to 0-1.

Forrest Skelton, who would pitch both games of the day, opened the contest in her usual fashion striking out the first three batters to step up to the plate. The Lynx would put their first run on the board when a single from
Courtney Williams scored Jess Brown from second, 1-0. Fontbonne would respond with a homerun in the top of the fourth scoring two runs to take the lead, 1-2.

The Lynx made a statement in the bottom of the fourth, scoring eight runs to secure a comfortable lead. The first came off the bat of Dani Smith bringing
Erin Parker home and the Lynx even with the Griffins, 2-2. A double from Jess Brown scored two, a Williams single to left field scored two more, and a double from
Allycia Kleine tallied an additional two.
Makenzie Martin scored the last run of the inning, switching places with Kleine on second, 9-2.

The final run of the game would come in the bottom of the sixth when Parker singled down the right field line scoring Smith, 10-2.

In the second game of the day, the Lynx took an early lead over the Big Blue in the bottom of the second with a homerun over the center field fence from Williams. A single to left field in the top of the fourth brought the Big Blue even, 1-1.

The score would remain 1-1 through the seventh, sending the game into extra innings. The Big Blue opened the eighth by bringing in Meghan Matthews to take the lead, 1-2. Lynx senior captain
Amber Hunt, evened the score hitting Smith in from second to make the count 2-2.
Christine Hume closed the game in style with a walk-off home run making the final score 4-2.

The Lynx will face off against Millikin and Fontbonne tomorrow, March 2 as they finish the tri-match play. The Lynx' first pitch is set to be thrown out at 12 p.m.
