MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Rhodes men's lacrosse team shutout Dubuque College, 20-0 on Thursday night action.
The Lynx advance to 2-1 on the year, while the first-year program Spartans fall to 0-2 on the young season.
Rhodes opened the first half with a flurry of scoring, netting seven goals in the first quarter.
Merrill Charette posted four first-quarter goals, with a goal apiece from
Jason Lee,
Tyler Tisdale and
Matt Vavrek.
The Lynx continued its dominance in the second period, tacking on four more scores from
Alessandro Secino,
William Posey,
Cooper Robinson and
MG Jadick. Rhodes took a 11-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Lynx spread the wealth, getting a four-goal third quarter from Secino and a hat-trick third period from Charette The Lynx took a 17-0 lead into the final period of play.
Rhodes finished the fourth quarter with Charette picking up right where he left off, posting his sixth goal of the contest. Tisdale added another to the Lynx total, with
Graham Derrickson chipping in a goal as well.
Michael Stierer got the win in the net for the Lynx, grabbing two saves in his 60 minutes in goal.
The Lynx outshot their opponent by a margin of 54-12 and picked up more ground balls by a count of 35-6.
Rhodes will be back in action this weekend, as they travel to face off against DePauw University on Feb. 22 at 1 p.m.
