MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes softball finished 1-1 on Saturday, falling to DePauw University 8-3 and defeating Maryville College, 9-0.
The Lynx post a 3-3 overall record, while the Tigers move to 2-0 to start the season while the Scots report a record of 0-6.
In the first contest, the Lynx saw DePauw score first when Lauren Krumwiede scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning to open the game. Rhodes scored their first of three runs in the second inning when
Courtney Williams hit a single run home run to even the score at 1-1.
Christine Hume hit a two-run bomb in the final inning, scoring
Allycia Kleine to make the final tally, 8-3.
Chloe Hundman pitched all seven innings for the Lynx, pitching three strike outs.
In the Lynx' second contest, Rhodes posted a shutout over the Maryville Scots. Earning the win for Rhodes was
Forrest Skelton, who pitched six innings, while only allowing two hits and throwing 11 strike outs.
The Rhodes bats went to work right away, with Williams sending another ball over the fence for her second home run of the day in the second inning to give the Lynx the 1-0 lead. Head coach

Jessica Brown two-run homer that scored
Aubrey Blackstock. A Hume sacrifice scored
Amber Hunt to give the Lynx the 4-0 advantage.
Two more Lynx scored for Rhodes in the fifth inning to lead 7-0. Williams third home run of the day sent the Lynx home early, as Rhodes enforced the run rule when she scored
Rachel Pewitt with the bomb. The Lynx posted a final score of 9-0 over the Scots.
Rhodes posted 11 hits in the outing, with no errors in the contest.
