FULTON, Mo. – The Rhodes women's basketball team picked up a road win against Westminster College (Mo.) on Monday, 66-52.
The Lynx improve to 7-1 on the year while Blue Jays fall to 2-4 on the season.
Rhodes made quick work of Westminster, propelled by a 17-0 run, where the Lynx established a 17 point lead with 12:58 to play after an
Erin Deery lay-in made the count 21-4.
Rhodes was able to maintain a healthy distance from the Blue Jays, and with a pair of
Blaire Smith layups to close the half, The Lynx took a 31-19 lead into the break.
At the midway point,
Symone Daniels led the Lynx, already recording a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Smith and Deery each netted four points at the break. The Blue Jays Krista Armontrout and Kasey Gatson each turned in four first half points.
In the second half, the Lynx fought to keep their distance, and after a 9-0 Westminster run cut the lead to two, the Lynx fought back. A six-0 run, featuring a
Sarah Johnson bucket and a Daniels three and layup, Rhodes pushed to a 40-31 lead at the 15:46 mark.
A pair of
Dy'Nelle Todman free throws extended the Rhodes lead back to double digits at the 9:34 mark, with a 52-41 lead. Another Johnson, Daniels combo helped the Lynx keep pace, after a Johnson three and Daniels layup made the count 64-46 in favor of the Lynx with 2:59 to play.

Matt Dean's squad worked to hold on, and finished strong, bringing home a 66-52 win.
Daniels finished with a career-high 31 points and 13 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Johnson netted 12 points, grabbing six rebounds and dishing out five assists.
Hannah Orth chipped in six points, with Todman adding five.
Westminster was led by Andrea Zalis who finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Armontrout netted 10 points in the contest.
Rhodes fired 36.6 percent from the field in the outing, with a 100 percent effort from the free throw line. The Lynx held their opponents to 31.0 percent shooting and a mere 17.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Rhodes will be back in action after a break for finals on Dec. 18 when they host Southwestern University.
