Rhodes keeps its hot streak going, defeating Elmhurst 2-1

ELMHURST, Ill. – Rhodes soccer kept its winning streak alive as the Lynx used goals by Breanna Durbin and Hannah Selner to top Elmhurst 2-1 on Sunday.
 
The win takes Rhodes to 3-1 for the year while the Blue Jays fall to 2-2.
 
The Lynx struck early when Selner scored her third goal of the season in the 13th minute. The goal came when Selner made the connection of a Heidi Press corner kick.
 
Rhodes' second goal came in the waning seconds of the first half when Durbin launched a shot from 55 yards out that found the back of the net.
 
Elmhurst got their lone goal in the second half at the 68 minute mark when Shelby Stone scored her first goal of the year off a rebound.
 
Rhodes was outshot by the Blue Jays by a tally of 15-10 and a 6-4 shots on goal margin. The Lynx edged the competition in corner kicks with a 5-4 count.
 
Allison Cowling only allowed one goal in the contest and grabbed four saves in her 90 minutes.
 
Rhodes will return home on Sept. 13 to take on the Austin College Roo's at 4 p.m. followed by a face off with the University of Dallas on Sept. 14 at 1 p.m.
