Game 1 - Rhodes started the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning with 2 runs as
Makenzie Martin singled home
Erin Parker before finding herself crossing home thanks to a ball hit to the right side off the bat of
Allycia Kleine. Hendrix quickly responded with 3 runs of their own in the top of the 2nd inning to take the lead at 3-2. However, in the bottom of the 3rd,
Jessica Brown showed her versatility as a hitter launching a solo homerun over the right center field fence to tie the ball game at 3's; in the bottom of the 4th
Courtney Williams would also go yard for the Lynx, spotting her shot to dead away center to put Rhodes ahead 4-3. The 4 runs would prove enough for the win as the Lynx defense, and pitching tandum of
Chloe Hundman and
Forrest Skelton, would combine efforts to blank the Warriors over the last 5 innings. For Rhodes, Hundman recorded the win and Skelton notched her first save of the season.
Game 2 - After being blanked in the first frame, Rhodes plated 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning to score what would prove to be only runs by either side during the entire contest. For the Lynx in the 2nd, after the leadoff was retired, Kleine, Williams and Smith all singled to load the bases for the Lynx. With the bases full, pitcher
Forrest Skelton was walked on a 3-2 count to see the game's first run cross the plate. After Rhodes hit into a force at home, Lynx runners remained on second and third with 2 outs when senior
Katie Stich singled up the middle to score Skelton and Parker increasing the lead to 4-0. Neither team would score again, although Rhodes threatened on several occasions with runners in scoring position. For the Lynx,
Forrest Skelton went a full game striking out 6 while allowing no runs.
With the wins, Rhodes momentarily moves into a tie with Berry for 2nd in SAA play and pulls within 1 game of conference leading Birmingham Southern.
Rhodes returns to the diamond tomorrow to complete their series with Hendrix; first pitch is slated for 12:00 pm.
