Game 1 saw the Berry Vikings strike first plating 2 runners in the bottom of the 1st inning. It wouldn't be until the top of the 4th inning before Rhodes was able to respond with a run of their own when Dannielle Smith reached base safely, courtesy of an infield hit and eventually scoring on a wild pitch. Smith's score would turn out to be the lone run for Rhodes as the Vikings held the Lynx offense at-bay for the remaining 3 innings, securing a 2-1 win.
Game 2 saw Rhodes push across the contest's first run thanks to an RBI single by
Jessica Brown that scored
Erin Parker. Unfortunately, the Lynx lead was short lived as the Vikings quickly responded with a run of their own, knotting the score at 1-1. Berry would strike again in the bottom of the 4th inning to go up, 2-1 but the Vikings lead lasted less than a full inning as
Makenzie Martin's single in the 5th scored two Rhodes runners as the Lynx regained the lead, 3-2; Martin would drive in another run in the 7th to increase Rhodes advantage to 4-2. In the bottom of the 7th, Berry scrapped for 2 runs of their own to once again deadlock the game at 4-4. In the top of the 8th the Lynx loaded the bases for
Erin Parker who delivered an RBI single, breaking the tie, 5-4. In the the bottom of the 8th, Rhodes' defense clamped down - earning the day one split.
Tomorrow the Lynx return to action against Berry, start times 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
