The Rhodes College baseball team kicked off their 2013 spring trip with a 2-1 victory over Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. The Lynx got an outstanding pitching performance from senior RHP
Jackson Baker. Baker allowed one run over seven innings of work as he improved to 3-2 on the year. The Lynx were able to take the lead in the top of the seventh as junior RF Patrick Killkeny tied the game with an infield single and then senior DH
Channing Arndt drove in eventual game winner with a double to deep left center. With the victory, Rhodes improved to 7-7 on the year.
Baker, who was dominate all night, scattered four hits and struck out 10. Baker handed the ball over to senior RHP
Matt Burnick who would work the final two frames to earn his first save of the season. Burnick allowed one hit and struck out three.
The Lynx offense was paced by senior 1B Matt Killary who was 2-2 with a walk and got hit by a pitch. Senior DH
Channing Arndt was 1-3 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore RF
Patrick Kilkenny was 1-4 with a run scored and drove in a run. Senior 3B
Lynden Pindling was 1-4 with a run scored.
Rhodes will take on Oglethorpe in the second game of the three game conference series at 2:00 on Saturday.
