BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Rhodes women's soccer saw their season end today as they fell in a tough loss to Berry College 1-0 in the Semi-final round of the Southern Athletic Association conference tournament.
With the loss, the Lynx finish their 2013 season win a 14-5-1 record, while Berry College advances to the SAA Championship match up with Centre, and move forward with a 16-3 record.
The battle was a huge defensive effort as the Lynx held their opponent scoreless for 85 minutes of the contest. Berry was able to find the back of the net in the final four minutes when Rachel Leory connected a Maggie Midkiff pass to make the count 1-0. Rhodes couldn't muster a comeback in the short time left and fell 1-0 to the Vikings.
Rhodes had two different goal keepers earn minutes, with
Allison Cowling playing the first 75 minutes grabbing two saves.
Chandler Kuhlman picked up the final 15 minutes in goal for the Lynx.
Rhodes was narrowly outshot by the Vikings, 14-9 and the Lynx took more corner kicks, 6-3.
