ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Rhodes basketball toped Fontbonne University 78-50 propelled by a standout 18 point performance from junior
Geoff Livsey.
With the win, Rhodes gets the 1-1 split on the road to open the season while Fontbonne falls to 0-2 to start their season.
Rhodes got the game off to a good start with a 12-4 run.
Ryan Van Hoeck opened the scoring with a layup at the 16:31 mark. The Lynx continued to push, aided by a pair of back-to-back baskets from
Drew Miller. A
Johnny Dunavant three pointer gave the Lynx their 12-4 lead with 14:31 left to play. The Lynx continued to fight and would take a 39-21 lead into the half.
Livsey went straight to work in the second half, scoring six points in the opening five minutes of the second half. Rhodes continued to steadily build on its lead, closing out the contest on an
Andrew Lowrie layup, earning the Lynx largest lead of 28 to close out the contest, 78-50.

Rhodes shot an impressive 54 percent from the field, and 45 percent from beyond the three point arch. The Lynx also pulled down 33 rebounds, beating out Fontbonne's 27 pull-downs.
Rhodes held the Griffin's to just 18 percent shooting from beyond the arc, and 40 percent from the field. Fontbonne was lead in scoring by Jared Greenlee who had 11 points in the outing. Kody Ettinger contributed eight and Bryan DeGeare added six points.
The Lynx were led by Livsey who netted 18 points and also pulled down seven rebounds in the outing. Miller added 12 points in the win, with two assists and three steals. Dunavant also got into double digits with 11 points and five assists.
The Lynx will continue their road stretch as they travel to Texas on Nov. 22 to take on the University of Texas at Tyler.
