Rhodes attempted to erase a twenty point second half comback on Friday January 25th, but time was not on their side as they fell to the University of the South - Sewanee by a score of 59-56. Sewanee used a first half in which they shot a season-high 72% from the field to grab a twenty point half time lead. Rhodes chipped away at the lead, but saw themselves still trailing by 18 with 9:38 remaining. The Lynx would not go away as they used a 18-3 run to close out the game that fell just short of the ultimate comeback. The clock ran out on Rhodes rally and the Tigers defeated the Lynx 59-56.
The first half was all about the Sewanee Tigers, as the Tigers were hitting shots from all over the floor in front of the sell-out, standing room only crowd. Sewanee finished the half shooting 72% from the field and 75% from the three-point line (6-8). Rhodes offense stalled and were held to a season low 14 points in the first half. After another one of Rhodes layups were off the mark, the halftime buzzer sounded with the Lynx trailing by twenty points.
Over the first 10:22 seconds of the second half, Rhodes and Sewanee traded blows. Rhodes looked to climb back into the game, while the Tigers wanted to end the Lynx hopes. After cutting the lead to 12, back-to-back three-point baskets by Tigers senior Affronti saw Sewanee stretch their lead back to 18 points with 9:38 remaining. Affronti ended the night with 15 points on 5 for 5 from distance. This would be the last field goals that the Lynx would give up.
Rhodes would attempt to erase the 18-point deficit over the remaining 9:38. Senior guard
Andrew Galow lead the charge for the Lynx with 21 second half points, including a huge three-point play with 31.7 seconds remaining that pulled the Lynx within two, 56-58. After Tiger's Valentino Bryant connected on one of two free throws, the Lynx pushed the ball and got a wide open three-point look from the corner but was unable to connect. A team offense rebound saw the Lynx with the ball and 17.1 seconds remaining. A costly turnover for Rhodes put Sewanee back at the free throw line.
A miss by the Tigers allowed the Lynx one last chance. Rhodes last look, a good one, by

Patrick McGrail and
Drew Miller each chipped in with 8 points, knocking down a pair of three-point field goals a piece.
