Rhodes Softball's record improved to 3-4-1 after completing the Sunday sweep by defeating Millikin, 3-1. In the circle, the win took the efforts of the entire Lynx pitcher staff.
Jessica Becher began the game pitching two strong innings of work allowing no runs.
Forrest Skelton entered the game in the 3rd inning allowing only one run in three full innings of work.
Chelsea Peters, was called upon in the 6th inning and closed the game out. Big Blue's dangerous bats were never able to get comfortable at the plate against the Lynx trio of pitchers.
Offensively, the game's standout performer was sophomore catcher,
Courtney Williams. Williams successfully reached base each time she came to the plate and accounted for 2 of the 3 Lynx scores. Williams got the scoring started for Rhodes with a solo homerun, her first of the season, in the 2nd inning and then drove in the last run of the day on a double in the 5th inning.
Rhodes now prepares for their, Softball Showcase to Benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, next Saturday and Sunday. Hendrix, Westminster and # 7 Depauw will come to town to take part in the event.
