Lynx Advance to Holiday Tournament Championship

The Rhodes College Lynx defeated the Knox College Prairie Fire on Friday December 21st, 74 to 41, to move on to the championship game of the 2012 Crowne Plaza Christmas Invitational.  An opening possession offensive rebound put back from Rhodes sophomore Geoff Livsey gave the Lynx a lead that they would never surrender.  Rhodes came out running as the Prairie Fire were unable to slow the Lynx down in transition.  At the half the Lynx led by 14 points and Knox was never able to make a run to cut into the double digit lead.  Rhodes finished the night with a 74 to 41 victory.

Rhodes really turned in on early in the second half to put away the Prairie Fire.  Off the bench Mike Gallagher drained three second half three-point field goals to spark the Lynx and pull away.  Gallagher finished with 9 points for the night and his quick hands grabbed three steals.  The Lynx shot 52% from the field for the game, while they held Knox to 28%.

Senior guard Andrew Galow led the Lynx with 13 points, all in the first half, and grabbed 8 rebounds and 4 assists to pace the Lynx attack.  Sophomore Geoff Livsey chipped in with 10 points of his own, while fellow Senior Theo Hartwell had 8 rebounds to go along with his 8 points.  The Lynx had 11 players in the scoring column tonight.  Knox College was led by Lukas Shaw with 10 points.

The win puts the Lynx into the championship game of the 2012 Crowne Plaza Christmas Invitational and will go on to play Kalamazoo College tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.
