The Women's Soccer team fell to #9 Centre College in the SAA tournament final 3-0.
3 games in 3 days proved to be too much for the Lynx to overcome. Rhodes began the tournament as the #3 seed, which scheduled them for a game on Friday evening. With a short turn around after that game, the Lynx had to face #2 seed Brimingham Southern at 2:30 on Saturday. A tough 3-2 win in the semi-final put the Lynx into the SAA final at noon on Sunday. While Centre cruised to a 3-0 win over Millsaps on Saturday afternoon.
The final was set, and was a chance for Centre to avenge their only defeat of the season which came from the Lynx in Memphis. Centre proved to be the fresher team and was able to keep the Lynx pinned in their own end. After both teams were able to trade scoring opportunities, it was Centre who would strike first.
Anne Mitchel scored in the 17th minute off of an assist from Katie Stevenson. The 1-0 score line would hold through to half time.
Centre added a 2nd goal, just 27 seconds into the 2nd half when Morgan Colins scored. Centre added a third goal off of a corner in the 70th minute.
Despite playing 3 games in just over 40 hours the Lynx did not quit.
The loss ended a 10 game winning streak for Rhodes and finished their season at 15-4-1.
The 2012 season's mark of 15 wins, was the most for the program since 1995 when the team went 17-2-1. In 2008 the Lynx went 14-4-2 and qualified for the NCAA tournament when they won the SCAC's Automatic Bid.
