CONWAY, Ar.- The Lynx earned the right to host the SAA Tournament November 2-4 with their 7th conference win of the season in a 3-2 victory at Hendrix. The Lynx started off strong controlling much of the first half of play but were unable to capitalize for more than one tally in the first period. Scoring for the Lynx was
Katie Faucher, who found the back of the cage ten minutes into play on an assist from
Kat Simpson.
After halftime the Warriors evened the level of play but the Lynx pushed the lead 2-0 on a penalty corner goal by
Kat Simpson ten minutes after the break. The assist on that score was by
Sarah Ferguson on her 4th helper of the season. Four minutes later Hendrix answered back with an unassisted goal by Morgan Fires. In the 58th minute,
Marie Mason scored her first goal of the season to regain a two goal lead for the Lynx. The Warriors again responded with a goal, closing the gap 3-2. An intensely played final ten minutes proved to be enough as the Lynx held on for the victory.
Rhodes out shot Hendrix 11-10 while the Warriors held a 10-9 advantage in penalty corners. Sam Anscher had a great game on the defensive end while
Kat Simpson and
Katie Faucher propelled much of the Lynx attack. In cage, Rhodes keeper
Jordan Robinson earned two saves while defender
Regan McLaughlin notched a defensive save.
Rhodes (10-4, 7-0 SAA) will host Division II opponent Bellarmine for tomorrow at 2 pm. Seniors
