Lynx Dominate Transylvania

9/25/2011 5:08:00 PM

The Lynx controlled play all game long in their 8-1 win over Transylvania today.  Rhodes jumped off to quick start earning several penalty corners in the first few minutes of play but the Lynx were unable to find the back of the goal around the strong play of Transylvania goalkeeper Sara Aschbacher who tallied 17 saves on the day.  Taylor Mills scored the game winning goal 11 minutes into play and followed it up with a second goal just six minutes later.  Assists on Mills' two goals went to Libby Jones and Mackenzie Holland.  After a 30 minute lightning delay and half time the Lynx really opened up on the Pioneers, scoring six second half goals.  Katie Faucher had her second hat trick in the last two games and Regan McLaughlin scored her second goal of the year on a penalty corner play.  In the middle of the half Transy's Ruth Kloha was able to slip one past Lynx keeper Kelly Whelan but Rhodes never let down.  The game finished with two unassisted goals by Kat Simpson, who also tallied three assists on the day.  Senior Chelsea McLeod assisted one of Faucher's three goals as well.  Sara Sanders and Corrinne Palmer controlled play in the backfield well while Sarah Ferguson and Sarah Kennedy played well in the midfield.  Rhodes out shot Transylvania 25-4 and held a 12-1 adavantage in penalty corner opportunities.  The Lynx (4-2, 1-0 SCAC) will play at Centre Friday at 5:30 pm and at Sewanee Sunday at Noon.
