The Lynx went into Jackson, Mississippi on Friday February 25th looking to upset the first seeded Tigers from Trinity University. Signs looked good with the result of the first matchup between these teams, but the Lynx shooting slump carried over into this afternoon's game. Trinity's 3-2 zone gave the Lynx open three point shots from the corners, but went a combined 3 for 18 from three in the first half. Trinity opened up a 24-point lead at halftime and things did not change on the offensive end for the Lynx. Rhodes season ended this afternoon after a 62 - 42 defeat.
Last Sunday Rhodes was unable to make any shots scoring only 43 points and the slump continued today. The Lynx scored only 13 points in the first 27 minutes of the contest and were only able to muster a total of 42 for the game. Rhodes saw a hole in Trinity's defense, but was unable to exploit their problem. Open three after open three missed the mark and you just can't win without scoring points.
It was a difficult way to finish the season for the Lynx as they had been playing top notch over the last three weeks. A young team, led by Senior Josh Arant, will look to take this year's experience and grow to be an elite team. You can bet on the Lynx being a factor in the SCAC in the years to come.
