Greenville's Pressure Sinks The Lynx

Rhodes loses it's first game of the season Saturday night, November 19th, against the Greenville College Panthers 86 to 62.  From the opening tip, Greenville's full court pressure trapped the Lynx and caused 15 turnovers leading to 22 points for the Panthers.  When open shots to presented themselves to the Lynx, it was a rough shooting night and a game to forget.  Rhodes shot 36.7% from the field compared to Greenville's 56.9%. 

The Lynx came out of the gates slow, as Greenville got out to an early ten point lead in the first ten minutes of play.  With 7:02 left in the half, Rhodes found itself behind by 16 and needed a gut check.  A good four minute stretch saw the Lynx at the free throw line down 8 with 4:42 remaining, but a miss at the line and two minutes without a basket allowed Greenville to take back the momentum.  At the half Rhodes trailed by 12.

Rhodes could get no closer than 10 in the second half.  With Greenville having its best shooting night of the season, 9 of 17 from three-point range, the Lynx were sunk.  Greenville pushed the lead to a game-high 24 points as the buzzer sounded.  The Panthers were led in scoring by Junior Jordan Smith with 18 points, while Dondrale Campbell added 16.

Another quick turnaround has the Lynx in action Tuesday night, November 22nd, against Covenant College at 5pm.  Rhodes will look to improve their current (1-1) record.
