Katie Faucher scored the game winning goal just one and a half minutes into play in the Lynx win over Transylvania and the team never looked back.
Chelsea McLeod and
Libby Jones also scored in the first ten minutes and Rhodes continued to stretch the lead until Transylvania's Kerri Karalik was able to slip one by Lynx keeper
Kelly Whelan. The half time score was 7-1 with the addition of two goals by
Taylor Mills and one a piece for
Kat Simpson and
Sarah Kennedy. The Lynx shifted their focus in the second half to winning and executing penalty corners and were able to do so on two of eight tries with goals by Sam Anscher and
Kat Simpson, both assisted by
Libby Jones. The Lynx added a late goal by first year player
Courtney Haller on a assist from
Kate Taylor. Eleven different players either scored or tallied an assist on the game for Rhodes. The Lynx out shot the Pioneers 25-4, and held a 9-4 advantage in penalty corner opportunities. Sara Aschbacher had 15 saves in goal for Transy while
Kelly Whelan executed three strong second half saves for the Lynx. Rhodes (6-4, 2-1 SCAC) will travel to New England over fall break next weekend to face Christopher Newport Saturday at MIT (4 pm) and SUNY New Paltz Monday night at Trinity (7 pm).
