The Lynx fell to cross town Division II rival Christian Brother's University on Wednesday night. CBU struck first in the 33rd minute when Allison Tutt finished a service put in by Alex Bickenbach. The Lynx fought back and found the equalizer late in the 1st half. A foul on senior forward
Laura Flink created the opportunity for the Lynx. Sophomore
Maddy Esther played a short touch to senior
Ashley Ladd who fired a shot from 30 yds that found the top corner of the net.
In the 2nd half both teams created several great scoring opportunities, but solid defense and individual plays kept the game tied for almost the entire 2nd half. Juniors
Emily Shaw and
Shannon Blair cleared would be goals away from the Lynx goal. Freshmen Breannna Durbin had a last second clear for the Lynx as well.
Offensivley the Lynx created several scoring chances but they could not make one count. Junior
Mae Casey flicked a ball in the air to get around a defender but her last second touch just rolled wide of the net. Ladd and Flink couldn't convert 1v1 situations with CBU goalkeeper Robyn Wade who made 2 great individual saves.
Tragedy struck in the 88th minute when Tutt scored her 2nd goal of the game. The Lynx were unable to create any last minute heroics.
The Lynx return to SCAC action on Saturday when they travel to Millsaps College. Game time is set for 5pm. WIth a victory the Lynx will lock in a spot in the 2011 SCAC tournament hosted by Birmingham Southern College.
