The Rhodes field hockey team gritted out a win over Hendrix for the second time this year by a score of 2-1 in Conway, AR.
Kat Simpson scored both goals on breakaways that were generated by the hard work of
Katie Faucher and
Libby Jones. Simpson was able to beat the Hendrix goalkeeper to the left on both fast breaks; one midway through each half. Hendrix pressed hard in the last 20 minutes after scoring their lone goal which put the game back within reach. The Lynx defense held tough under the pressure with big defensive plays coming from
Regan McLaughlin and
Sara Sanders in the last few minutes. Sam Anscher,
Sarah Kennedy, and
Libby Jones had outstanding efforts between the 25s. Rhodes outshot Hendrix 12-5 and held a 10-4 advantage in penalty corner opportunities. The Lynx (7-6, 3-1 SCAC) will host Centre and Sewanee this coming weekend.
