Rhodes defeated visiting Hendrix College 1-0 in the SCAC opener for the Lynx. Both teams would battle through a scoreless 1st half. The Lynx had a great opportunity in the 1st half when sophomore
Jenna Sarett was pulled down in the Warrior penalty box. On the resulting penalty kick, Sarett's shot was saved by Warrior goalkeeper Allison Mosley.
The Lynx would finally get on the board in the 66th minute. Freshmen
Kelsey Keown took a cross down from the right side of the field, and then laid the ball off for sophomore
Maddy Esther who smashed the ball low and into the back of the net. The goal is Esther's second of the season. The Lynx defense was able to fight off late attempts by the Warriors.
Senior
Stephanie Sermonet made 1 save in her first SCAC shutout of 2011. Mosley made 7 saves for Hendrix. The Lynx finished with 18 shots with 8 of them on goal. Hendrix finished with 6 corners to the Lynx' 5. Rhodes improves on the year to 6-2-1 (1-0) and travels to #6 Trinity University on Friday.
