Late Drought Ends Lynx Shot At First Conference Victory

1/23/2011 7:58:20 PM

A great defensive effort Sunday January 23rd, goes wasted as the Lynx offensive fails to participate over the last 11:16 of regulation.  With 11:16 left, Rhodes took a 35 to 29 lead, their biggest of the day.  From that point forward, the Lynx were only able to muster 5 points and were held scoreless for nearly nine minutes.  The Millsaps Majors took advantage of the Lynx lack of offense and went on a 15 - 0 run.  Rhodes kept Millsaps in arms length with their defense, but could not open the lid on the basket.  In the end the Majors defeated the Lynx 52 - 40.

In the first half, the Lynx came out with great energy and were on the ball defensively from the opening tip.  Rhodes kept Millsaps below their average with only 52 points and a meger 37% shooting from the field.  The rebounding margin also favored the Lynx as they had 8 more than the Majors.

The offensive numbers for the Lynx do not tell the story for the men.  Rhodes played with great pace and got great looks at the basket, but nothing fell.  The final stats show the Lynx shooting 3 for 20 from the three point line (15%) and 33% overall.  Sophomore Andrew Galow led the way for the Lynx posting a double double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Next weekend the Lynx host Southwestern and Trinity on Friday and Saturday night.
